Brentford were unlucky to see out a 0-0 draw with Bristol Rovers yesterday, with home keeper (and former Bees loanee) Mikkel Andersen in fine form.
The home team probably edged a fairly even first half in possession terms but Brentford were by far the better team after the interval - even before Gary Sawyer was sent off with 20 minutes remaining for a second bookable offence.
Brentford were a threat down the wings throughout with Nick Adams (in for hamstring victim Robbie Simpson) and Myles Weston causing problems throughout - with the latter denied a 20 yarder by a fine Andersen save.
In truth Brentford wasted as many chances as Andersen saved, but the team do appear to be slowly going up the gears. It was a shame, again, not to see Nicky Forster used as a substitute as Brentford attempted to make their one player advantage count.
At the back Karleigh Osborne once more played well as Brentford held firm for a second consecutive clean sheet.
Four points from two games and out of the bottom four... onwards and upwards as someone used to say.
