All Aboard for a Magical Christmas: The Railway Children Arrives at the Tabard Theatre
From the award-winning creative team behind the Tabard Theatre’s much-loved festive hits — Five Children and It, The Secret Garden and The Snow Queen — comes a brand-new stage adaptation of E. Nesbit’s timeless classic The Railway Children.
This heartfelt new production follows Roberta, Peter and Phyllis as their world is turned upside down when their father is suddenly called away. Uprooted from their comfortable London life to a quiet Yorkshire village, the siblings soon find themselves swept into a world of steam trains, kindly station porters and unexpected adventures. Along the way, they discover the true meaning of kindness, courage and hope.
Adapted by Louise Haddington and directed by the Tabard’s Artistic Director, Simon Reilly, this fresh retelling captures all the spirit of the original story while offering a joyful, contemporary warmth.
Reilly says:
“The Railway Children has such warmth and heart — it’s a story that brings generations together. It’s full of nostalgia, but also reminds us how acts of courage and compassion can change lives. It’s the perfect story for Christmas.”
A festive treat for audiences of all ages, The Railway Children promises to whisk theatregoers away on an unforgettable journey this Christmas — right from the heart of Chiswick. With some shows already sold out, don't miss your chance to get on board - book now at tabard.org.uk.
