New
'How Flowers Feel' exhibition highlights the work of the talented Alison McWhirter
The Russell Gallery has been established in Putney for 17 years. We chose
to have our gallery there for many reasons one being our family has lived there
for several generations.
We are one of the few galleries left that offer one person shows to artists. We plan
the Solo shows two years in advance and work on this basis. We have about
10 Solo shows and two mixed shows each year.
The Mixed Summer and Winter shows give young and new artists an opportunity
to exhibit with us alongside our established ones. We have an eclectic, rotating
show that is often compared to the Royal Academy Summer show. Prices start
at £350.
Over the years we have developed a strong ethos to show strong colourful
paintings, in oil, figurative and abstract. Alison McWhirter can paint both and
is one of these artists who can translate colour beautifully onto
canvas. She has an ability to place paint. Each mark has a meaning.
The new Scottish colourist - show closes Saturday May 9th May
Alison McWhirter
Alison McWhirter BA MA was born in Scotland in 1975 and attended Bath Academy, gaining a BA in Fine Art in 1998 and a Postgraduate MA in Visual Culture 2000. Alison has been described as ‘The New Scottish Colourist’ and deemed her to be one of the top Contemporary Scottish Colourists making waves in the art world.
Her paintings are all oil, it is her use of colour that is so inventive and enticing. She paints flowers, abstracts, cityscapes and still life in this show.
This is Alison's third Solo show with us and we are her only London gallery. The show has several themes: flowers, large abstracts of flowers and sea. Landscapes and seascapes of England, France and Amsterdam.
All the paintings are for sale and images of paintings in their frames can be emailed.
Or put in the window of the gallery for viewing.
