World Alzheimer's Month: Free Dementia Advice

Ad -Specialist dementia team at Home Instead Hammersmith, Chiswick and Fulham are holding two free advice sessions

September is World Alzheimer's Month - a time to raise awareness, challenge stigma and make sure people living with dementia and those close to them know where they can turn for practical advice and support.

To mark the month, Dr Jane Pritchard, Dementia Specialist Nurse and Admiral Nurse, together with the specialist dementia team at Home Instead Hammersmith, Chiswick & Fulham, will be holding two free advice sessions for people living with dementia, their families and carers.

The first is an online webinar on Monday 21 September. Dr Jane will share practical guidance and answer questions about living with dementia and supporting someone with the condition. To join the webinar, simply click the registration button accompanying this article.

This will be followed by a free, informal dementia advice drop-in session at Chiswick Health Practice on Wednesday 30 September, from 11.00am to 3.00pm.

There is no need to make an appointment for the drop-in session. People can simply come in and talk through whatever is on their mind - whether they are living with dementia themselves, supporting a partner, parent or friend, adjusting to a recent diagnosis, noticing changes in memory or behaviour, or thinking about what support may be helpful in the future.

Dr Jane will be joined by Maddy Alemayehu, Director, and Domi, Head of Care. Both are qualified nurses with many years of experience supporting older people and families affected by dementia, as well as specialist qualifications in dementia care.

The Home Instead Hammersmith, Chiswick & Fulham team has supported people living with dementia and their families for many years. These sessions are designed to make that experience available to the wider local community in a relaxed, welcoming and supportive setting.

You do not need to know exactly what to ask. Come with a question, a concern, or simply for a conversation with someone who understands dementia.
