Grow Your Business at Wandsworth Enterprise Week
Some of the country’s top business people will be giving advice to local entrepreneurs
Some of the country’s top business people will be giving advice to local entrepreneurs at the third annual Wandsworth Enterprise Week, which runs from February 29-March 5.
The event offers free helps and support to people considering setting up a business in the borough, as well as giving established businesses and existing start-ups support to flourish and grow.
There will be more than 20 free workshop, seminars and events going on across the borough, including sessions for the food, creative and tech industries and pop up business advice clinics.
Top speakers will include:
- Lynne Franks – businesswoman, author, communications expert and advocate for the empowerment of women.
- Charlie Mullins – founder of Pimlico Plumbers.
- Sharmadean Reid - founder of WAH Nails.
- Richard Johnson – food journalist and founder of the British Street Food Awards.
- Lora Schellenberg – marketing lead at global education company General Assembly.
- Petra Barran, founder of Kerb, a membership organisation for London street food busineses.
Highlights of the week include:
Tech Tuesday – a range of events aimed at tech and online businesses delivered in association with General Assembly
Women’s Enterprise Day – insight and advice from inspirational businesswomen, including Debbie Blott from Putney, founder of The DecorCafe Network.
Wandsworth Business Forum
- Enjoy a complimentary buffet and drinks and network with fellow business people, with keynote speaker Charlie Mullins
– including a pop-up business advice clinic, a workshop with Virgin StartUp, a business plan workshop, a lunchtime workshop to help you kickstart your home business, access to finance advice, and everything you need to know about being a successful street food entrepreneur. Keynote speaker will be Petra Barran.
Youth Enterprise Day – Young business owners share their stories and give advice to entrepreneurs of tomorrow.
The event is organised by the council’s Economic Development Office, which supports the local business community.
Places are free but numbers are limited so must be booked in advance. Priority will be given to Wandsworth businesses and residents.
Wandsworth’s business spokesman Cllr Guy Senior said:
“In Wandsworth we know that a thriving business community is vital part of the community, so we want to give people the tools they need to start-up new businesses and grow existing ones. I would urge people to take advantage of the free help and advice on offer.”
Participating organisations include Google, Virgin Start Up, GLE, UKTI, General Assembly and NatWest.
