Tube Strike Impact To Be Felt Over Six Days
RMT members taking industrial action again this month
Significant disruption expected on London Underground

The ongoing dispute between London Underground and the RMT union continues this month with disruption expected from the evening of Sunday 7 January until the morning of Friday 12 January.
Little or no service is expected across the tube network between these dates if the strike over pay and conditions goes ahead.
RMT members working in the tube’s network control functions take action on 7 and 8 January, then those working on the signalling and service control functions are off on 9 and 11 January. All other RMT members, including engineering, Fleet maintenance, stations and train operators will strike on January 8 and 10.
On Sunday 7 January, Tube services will end earlier than normal and passengers are advised to complete Tube journeys by 5.30pm other than lines serving the Emirates where Arsenal are playing Liverpool. Services there are expected to end at 7.30pm.
From Monday 8 to Thursday 11 January, severe disruption is anticipated, with little to no Tube service expected to run.
On Friday 12 January, Tube services will start later than normal, with a normal service expected by noon.
The Elizabeth line, London Overground, DLR, London Trams and London buses are scheduled to operate as normal but may be subject to last-minute changes and will be much busier than usual. Some trains may not stop at stations shared with London Underground.
Transport for London says it has been engaging constructively with the RMT and other trade unions over a pay increase for London Underground staff and has made an offer of a five per cent increase, which ASLEF members have accepted.
RMT members voted by 90% to reject a below inflation pay offer. The union also wants to see full staff travel facilities for all tube workers restored to prevent to the creation of what it describes as a two-tier workforce.
The RMT has called on TfL and the Mayor to enter into unconditional talks hosted by ACAS.
Glynn Barton, TfL’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “We are disappointed that RMT is planning strike action in response to our offer of a five per cent pay increase. We have been clear throughout our productive discussions with our trade unions that this offer is the most we can afford while ensuring that we can operate safely, reliably and sustainably. We encourage the RMT to engage with us to avoid disruption for Londoners. We would like to advise anyone travelling during the strike days to check before they travel.”
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said, "Our members have made it clear that they are prepared to take action and we urge TfL to enter into meaningful conciliatory talks to avert disruption in the capital."
