Jewels In The Crown

Win a diamond as the Exchange Shopping Centre celebrates the Diamond Jubilee

Putney pays homage to Her Majesty’s 60 years of service with the arrival of its very own Crown Jewels. Symbolic of a summer of celebration and change, the ornamental Coronation crown forms the centre piece to a magnificent competition being hosted by the Exchange to win a diamond!

The Crown filled with diamond-style stones of various sizes sits on a plinth within the shopping centre. Visitors to the Exchange have the opportunity to guess the actual number of diamonds inside the Crown – the closest to the correct answer winning a diamond of their very own!

The competition runs for 4 months starting 7th May and spanning the Diamond Jubilee Pageant and the Olympic Road Races – all of which go through Putney. The Jewel in the Crown competition will close on 9th September.

And as the Diamond Jubilee River Pageant brings the Thames to life on Sunday 3rd June with up to 1000 boats forming one of the largest flotillas ever assembled, Putney will also celebrate in style. A lively Jubilee Street Market will take place in Church Square next to Putney Bridge with a blend of local, regional, national and international goods and foods. There will be handmade crafts, clothing, jewellery and accessories as well as music and entertainment.  Putney will be the perfect place to spend the day in preparation for the afternoon’s arrival of historic boats and magnificent vessels making its way downstream. The day will vividly bring to life the royal heritage of the Thames and its heyday as a working, bustling river.
