Enjoy a day of family fun Saturday 28 July in the heart of Roehampton Enjoy a safe, unrestricted view of the Olympic men's road race cyclists as they power through Roehampton on their way out and back to central London, and combine it with a great day's family fun.

Rosslyn Park Rugby Club offers a unique opportunity to watch the men's race from a raised vantage point as competitors head out towards Surrey and again as they race back to complete 250 km over six hours on Saturday 28 July 2012.

Two sports clubs on the route have combined to offer the local community all-day family fun, music, activities and displays as well as festive food and drink and the chance to cheer on Mark Cavendish as the Olympic cyclists push on out of direct view.

Rosslyn Park Rugby Club, which looks down on the cyclists' outward and return route along Upper Richmond Road, is opening its gates to the public all day, and along with neighbouring Roehampton Club are providing attractions to keep children and parents happy.

"This is such a great opportunity for families to experience the real Olympic excitement live, something the children will remember all their lives," says Tracy McNeela, General Manager, Putney Leisure Centre who are supporting the event and will be there on the day offering taster sessions of different fitness activities. She continued:
"For many in South West London, the cycling road races will be the only real chance to taste the thrill of a London Olympics event in the flesh"


Marc Newey, Roehampton Club Chief Executive pictured left, points out:
"There will be no need to compete for pavement space, no need to worry about getting a good view and no anxiety about youngsters getting in the way of cyclists. The site looks down from a few feet above the race route and is totally secure with numbers strictly limited."

What's on for kids?
In the hours between the riders passing there will be plenty on offer for children, including mini football, BMX workshops, kids inflatables, competitions and live sports demonstrations all with the support of the Rosslyn Park 1st XV team.

What's on for grown ups?
There will be fitness and cycling demos, a car display, beer and Pimm’s tent, a BBQ and hog roast, music with local singer Carron Dawn Wright and a live DJ. TV coverage of the cycle race and other Olympic events will be shown throughout.

Admission in advance will be just £15 for a family of four, or £5 a head. On the gate admission will be £20 and £7 each. Gates are open from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.
