New Look At Putney's PizzaExpress

I tempted my son to join me to celebrate the end of his AS's for lunch with pizza! Putney's PizzaExpress has just relaunched with a celebration of local authors and with thoughts of eating al fresco the weather kept us in doors but we received a warm welcome from Nasser the manager and his staff.

The restaurant was just emptying out as we arrived as we booked a late lunch (1.50pm - try to remember being a teenager!). The son ordered garlic bread with mozzarella (£3.95) followed by a La Reine pizza (£9.55) from the classic range with a coke (£2.30). He tucked in vociferously and gave a big thumbs up!



The salads on offer were very tempting and I opted for the Pollo Pancetta salad (£8.60) with dressing "on the side" - a generous bowl of green leaves, chicken & pancetta (obviously) with peppers, sweet baby onions, vine tomatoes, cucumber with basil and mint plus dough sticks which were heavenly!

Really fresh and crunchy and I felt I had been healthy in my choice.... however for the really health conscious there is a Leggera Superfood Salad under 300 calories (and priced at £8.60).







I treated myself to an Oddono's raspberry sorbet with chocolate 'straw' & fresh mint - less than 100 calories if you have the mini version of one ball, but I mistakenly ordered the full size (still under 200 calories!) accompanied by a double espresso.




The staff were efficient and very proud of the refurb and gave me a quick tour of the al fresco space at the rear - surprisingly peaceful considering the railway is behind the fence and a non smoking zone. (There is also eating outside the front of the restaurant.)

The restaurant is bright and airy with artwork tributes to local authors E.M Forster, Leonard Woolf, Mary Shelley and Laurie Lee. Upstairs is room which can be hired for private parties and day time meetings with air conditioning, internet facilities and more.
