Byron Gets Vote For A Great Burger

Real burgers with side orders to die for make New Years Day a little less grey

As the rain poured over Putney High Street a trip to Byron was voted for and a flagging family were much cheered by the warm welcome & efficient service shown by Chris.

The burgers are freshly ground every day from beef sourced from Scotland and served with lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickle and mayo with a soft bun, - the burger are cooked medium unless otherwise instructed (but be warned their medium could be your idea of medium rare) and for the carb concious you can have a 'skinny' burger with no bun but a side salad. There is also a chicken filet or veggie burger available (also available in 'skinny'!). (Prices range from £6.50 - £8.75)

Now for the side orders - french fries (£2.95) or skin on chips (£3.25) and my favourite chuncky courgette fries (£3.25) - also available are battered onion rings (2.95) (I have to admit that the ones I "borrowed from my husband" were very tasty!)

The chocolate milk shake (£3.85) got a big thumbs up of approval from my teenage son and the malbec (£5.25 175ml) was as it says on the menu 'great'! I should explain the wine is sold by glass (175 or 350ml) or 750ml bottle & they are classified as Good / Better / Great / Best!

New Years guilt meant we avoided the pudding menu - although the words brownie & cheesecake did jump off the menu at me! On their website I see the puds are all £4.75 or ice cream at £3.35 - we settle for an espresso and the bill which came to £48.90 for a family of three - excluding service.

The restaurant site is unusual as it starts long and thin - widening at the rear where the kitchens are - seating ranges from banquettes & individual tables - having never been to a Byron before I dont know if that quirky to SW15 or the corporate image.

As we left one voice piped up that an easy New Years reolution woudl be to go to Byron more often - and I certainly woudln't say no to a return trip.....soon!
