Park dominate local derby

Park under aerial assault from Esher

Park dominated this local Derby and only some stout defensive work by Esher prevented a bigger score. Fly half Scott Sneddon put Park ahead on 5 minutes with a well-struck penalty, a feat he repeated 20 minutes later for 6-0.

It took until 5 minutes before the interval for Park to score the try they had been threatening. The pack drove over for flanker Ed Milne to touch down for 13-0.

Park’s Richard Boyle takes a hit

The second half started with a spectacular individual try when scrum half Rory Brand found a way through the visiting defences.

Sneddon converted for 20-0, adding a further penalty to his tally to take things to 23-0. However, the fly half then had to be helped off with an injury, leaving Park without a kicker and replacement scrum half Russ Weir standing in at number 10.

That didn’t stop Park scoring the next try through replacement flanker Jamie Harries for 28-0.

Esher tried everything to put a score on the board but their late rally could not pierce Park’s defence. A superb late break saw centre Andrew Henderson sprint through the visiting defence and dot down for 33-0 and a 4-try bonus point win for Park.

Park Backs Coach, Kieran Power, said:
“It was great to get the 5 points from what was a very physical stop start game but there is still plenty for us to focus on to get right before a long trip to Flyde next week. Traditionally Flyde play some expansive rugby, and we have to be on top of our game to match them and control our possession and territory to then dictate the outcome of the game”.
