Rugby International To Aid Poppy Appeal

Women’s sport takes centre stage at Rosslyn Park this weekend

Women’s sport takes centre stage at Rosslyn Park this weekend. On Friday night, 2nd November, Rosslyn Park Rugby Club stage a top class International match in aid of the 2018 Poppy Appeal. The women’s team of the UK Armed Forces will play the full South Africa national team under the Priory Lane floodlights, kicking off at 7:00PM. The club are hoping for a big turnout to see top level women’s sport in Putney.

The club will not itself be charging for admission at the gate, but urges those attending to donate £5 directly to the Poppy Appeal via the collectors who will be at the ground.

The gates will be open to the public from 6:00PM, and the clubhouse will be available for refreshments before, during and after the match.

Rosslyn Park Ladies’ club captain, Esther King, said, “we’re really looking forward to this epic match at our home ground - what an honour to see these two sides compete at the Rock. We hope a lot of local women will come along and support the match and a most worthwhile cause and that some of them may decide to take up the sport. The Slingbacks [Rosslyn Park’s ladies team] always welcome new players”.

The female theme continues on Sunday (4th November) afternoon when the Rosslyn Park Slingbacks play a league match – a local Derby against London Welsh – kicking off at 2:00PM. That match will also have free admission for spectators

The ground is located at the corner of Upper Richmond Road and Priory Lane. Buses 33, 265, 337 and 493 stop outside.
