Are You Tough Enough To Walk From Putney To Brighton In 24 Hours?
Join blind Paralympian & blind veterans in the 100k walk
David Clarke, Britain’s most capped blind footballer, is calling on the public to put themselves to the ultimate fitness challenge and sign up for Blind Veterans UK’s 100k walk.
David, along with three other Olympic and Paralympic athletes are supporting the 100k walk which takes walkers from Putney in London and ends at the Blind Veterans UK centre in Ovingdean 24 hours later.
David is not only pledging his support for the charity challenge but he will also be participating in the walk to raise money for Blind Veterans UK. David, who lit the Paralympic cauldron two years ago at the London 2012 Paralympics opening ceremony, says: “I’m proud to be participating in Blind Veterans UK’s 100k London to Brighton Walk from Saturday 21st to Sunday 22nd June. I’ll be joining several of the visually impaired ex-Service men and women supported by Blind Veterans UK on the walk and I am looking forward to raising money for this great charity alongside them.
“Like those supported by Blind Veterans UK, I understand the impact that a visual impairment can have on a person’s life – and the drive to make sure that blindness doesn’t stop you from aspiring to achieve great things and succeeding at what you love.”

Not up to the 100k but still want to be involved?
The success of the 100k London to Brighton walk depends on the support of many volunteers. Our volunteers work with the Events team to ensure the smooth running of the registration process, the checkpoints, water stops, trail management and numerous other aspects of the challenge. Join our team and you will be helping hundreds of people, raising thousands of pounds to support Blind Veterans. We have a number of volunteer opportunities, including Volunteer Marshals, Pace Walkers, Checkpoint Chief Marshals, First Aid and medical staff, physiotherapists, administrators, photographers and film crew. These are in locations along the route, including Putney. Contact the charity if you are interested in working in any of these opportunities in Putney .
