Whilst 2400 competitors take to water for one of largest rowing events in world
Motorists who normally park their cars on Putney Embankment are being advised that parking bays there will be suspended this coming Saturday for the annual Head of the River Fours rowing regatta.
Around 550 boats are due to take part in the four mile race between Mortlake and Putney Bridge and the influx of dozens of large rowing boat trailers along with a big crowd of spectators means that parking spaces on the embankment have to be suspended.
The suspensions will commence at 8am on Saturday, November 14. Motorists who park their cars there overnight on Friday will need to move them by this deadline. Vehicles left in parking bays after this time are likely to be towed away.
Normal parking rules will be reinstated at approximately 6pm on Saturday evening once the rowing boats, their trailers and the crowds have departed.
Signs notifying drivers of the changes have been placed on lamposts and signposts at numerous locations along Putney Embankment.
Residential roads linking Putney Embankment with the Lower Richmond Road will also be closed to all traffic on Saturday apart from residents.
