Wandsworth Council has turned down the developer's appeal against the earlier refusal of a controversial application to convert part of Wandsworth Park into private gardens.
Proposed area to be annexed for private use
A spokesperson for the local pressure group Friends of Wandsworth Park told PutneySW15.com: "“We welcome the positive decision so that we can now put our energies into the many ongoing projects we have been planning so everyone can enjoy all of our wonderful park. Thank you again for all your support.”
Thamesfield councillor John Locker thanks Friends of Wandsworth Park when he tweeted after the application was denied:
Glad to hear that the planning appeal for riverside terrace has been dismissed and in line with the council’s original assessment this strip will stay part of Wandsworth Park. Thanks to @WandsworthPark
