Thamesfield Councillors arrange meeting to hear views before planning meeting
Thamesfield councillors have arranged a special public meeting, to be chaired by Putney MP Justine Greening, to let residents have their say about the proposed new school planned for the disused Putney Hospital site.
It will be held on Thursday September 6 at the London Rowing Club on Putney Embankment, at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
Proposed primary school
One of the organisers, Councillor Mike Ryder, said:
“I know the Friends of Putney Common group have fixed a meeting of their own about the scheme, on October 15. But the plan for the new school is scheduled to go before Wandsworth Council’s Planning Applications Committee on September 19, so myself and my colleagues Councillors Jim Maddan and Rosemary Torrington thought it was sensible to let residents air their thoughts before then, so all points of view can be taken into consideration. I know some people think strongly that the proposed school, which would eventually have 420 pupils, could be too big. But other residents have told me they strongly support the idea, and want the school there. So let’s have this meeting and let people have their say.”
The councillors had earlier issued a survey to thousands of homes in the area, as another means of gauging opinions, and the results of that will soon also be collated.
