22 new buses in all & TfL buses looking to get more of them to be hybrids using 'Green Bus Funding'
Mike Weston at TfL Buses has told Assembly Member for Putney, Richard Tracey:
"We have recently awarded a new contract to London General at Putney Garage based on 22 new Euro V buses of which ten will be hybrid. In practice these buses, which are due in October this year, will be allocated to routes 14, 22 and 74. As part of the Government's recent announcement of more Green Bus Funding we will be exploring whether more of the 22 new buses could be hybrids."
Richard Tracey told PutneySW15.com:
"This is good news which shows our arguments about pollution are getting through."
He continued: " The route of the 22 does not really affect the High Street, apart from when they leave and return to the garage in Chelverton Road. The rest of the time they go from Putney Common to Central London and back. The news about the 14 and 74 is very good because they go up and down the High Street on a regular basis. It would be good to see hybrid vehicles on other routes as well - the 93, 85, and 430."
