Mark Humphrey Brings Stunning WW1 Poppy Sculpture To SW15

An interactive tribute to the million UK & Commonwealth servicemen who died

From tomorrow afternoon, shoppers & visitors to the Putney Exchange can dedicate & insert a poppy into the sculpture which can hold as many as 3000 poppies. The Royal British Legion is hoping the public will personalise & dedicate a poppy to an armed forces or family member who has died as a result of conflict.

For many years now, the Shopping Centre has supported The Royal British Legion raising several hundred pounds each year for its annual Poppy Appeal.


Award winning artist Mark Humphrey, (pictured below), who has previously worked with the top stars like Michael Schumacher, Claudia Schiffer, Ringo Starr and Stephen Gerrard, Mittal, Ralph Lauren Fendi, LVMH, and Jumeirah, Grosvenor Estate, is the Royal British Legion’s chosen partner to create art installations to commemorate the WWI Centenary.

Mark Humphrey said about the interactive Poppy Sculptures being installed for the community in the shopping centres:
“I wanted to create a low cost, easy to install commemoration sculpture that brings home to the public the great sacrifices that were made 100 years ago. The sculpture will inspire the community to mark the centenary of World War One. It will create a space for the public to reflect and remember those solders who lost there lives not just then but as a result more recent conflict”

Charles Byrne, Director of Fundraising at the Royal British Legion said:
“The sculptures are a moving tribute to the Service men and women who gave their lives in the First World War. Mark’s sculptures are a terrific concept and we hope people will embrace the concept and remember the fallen of the First World War whilst also supporting the current work of the Legion”
