Rome To Home Cycle Challenge Completed

The Putney Six raised over £4.500 for Whizz-Kids

The Putney Six arrived back from an epic 1,200 mile cycling challenge from Rome to London on Saturday and have raised over £4.5k for disabled children’s charity, Whizz-Kidz.

The 6 friends, who all met at Cardiff University, cycled on average 80 miles a day for two weeks across Europe in order to raise vital funds, which will transform the lives of young disabled people in the UK by providing them with the right wheelchairs and life-skills training enabling them to reach their full potential and enjoy life.

Team member Robbie said, ‘We are so pleased that we chose Whizz Kidz as our charity, we've had fantastic support from their team and have really enjoyed learning more about where the money goes. Rome 2 Home was difficult at times but also a lot of fun.’

Claire Alderton, regional fundraiser for Whizz-Kidz said:
‘We cannot thank the Rome2Home boys enough for completing this brilliant challenge! They have joked about doing a cycling challenge that spreads across 4 countries next time so we might hold them to that! They have gone above and beyond their target and this will go to reach the estimated 70,000 children who are still waiting for the right equipment and life-skills that can enable them to reach their full potential and enjoy life. Thank you to everyone who has supported them and donated.’

Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children with the right wheelchair to support their own individual needs and enables them to live an active and independent childhood.
