To raise £4,000 for disabled children's charity Whizz-Kidz
The six friends, who all met at Cardiff University, will be cycling on average 80 miles a day for two weeks across Europe in order to raise vital funds, which will transform the lives of young disabled people in the UK by providing them with the right wheelchairs and life-skills training enabling them to reach their full potential and enjoy life.
Team member Robbie said:
"While we have always wanted to do a cross-border cycle I don’t think any of us really believed it would actually happen until late one evening last year we went ahead and booked flights to Rome committing ourselves to this enormous challenge!”
He continued:
"We are very proud to be supporting Whizz-Kidz through this cycle as they do some incredible work all across the UK. As 6 young, fit and healthy guys we are enormously aware of our responsibilities to be able to give back to those who are not so fortunate as us.‘We like the idea of this challenge representing ’wheels for wheels’ as we are cycling 1200 miles so that Whizz-Kidz can continue to help get disabled children moving again with mobility equipment, support and encouragement from their brilliant staff."
Claire Alderton, regional fundraiser for Whizz-Kidz said:
‘"We are incredibly grateful to, Luke, Louis, Jon, Robbie and the two Toms for taking on such a personal and active challenge in order to make the lives of disabled children more fulfilling and independent. Without people like them, who are willing to go to great and enduring lengths to raise money for Whizz-Kidz, we simply wouldn’t be able to reach the 70,000 children who are still waiting for the right equipment and life-skills that can enable them to reach their full potential and enjoy life."
Whizz-Kidz provides disabled children with the right wheelchair to support their own individual needs and enables them to live an active and independent childhood.
