Shop Locally On Small Business Saturday

Support Putney businesses this Saturday and shop in SW15

This Saturday, 2 December is Small Business Saturday, the annual celebration of local independent businesses. The Wandsworth Mayor is visiting businesses in Putney at 10.30 to promote small business Saturday

The Small Business day, now in its fifth year in Britain, takes place on the first Saturday in December each year, as Christmas shopping begins in earnest.

Traders across our borough are joining in Small Business Saturday with a range of discounts and special offers. To help support local traders, check out which from businesses in Putney are taking part in Small Business Saturday by entering your postcode at smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com/small-business-finder.

A spokesperson for Positively Putney said: "We are having a window display competition to celebrate Small Business Saturday. We will be judging on Saturday. We have also asked the public to vote. just snap a picture of your display and post onto Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #positivelyputneychristmas

The council’s business spokesman Cllr Kim Caddy will also be visiting participating businesses on the day. She said: “The heart of any community is its shopping centre and buying everything online makes it hard for small, independent shops to survive. That’s why the council has been working with local traders to help make Small Business Saturday a success.

“For every pound spent in a local independent shop or locally owned business, up to 70p benefits our local community, but if you shop at an out of town centre or online as little as 5p finds its way back. So please save some of Christmas shopping for your local stores and make the most of the offers and discounts on Saturday.”
