Get Involved With Community Projects in Roehampton

Take part in a speed-dating-style networking event

Anyone with an idea for a community-based project in Roehampton is invited to take part in a speed-dating-style networking event next week.

Art collective Avant Gardening is running the event for people wanting to discuss new - and learn more about existing – community activities and initiatives in the area.

It will take place at Café Joy, opposite Roehampton Library in Danebury Avenue, on Tuesday, January 15, from 5pm - 7pm - with visitors able to drop in anytime.

It is open to anyone interested in initiating community-based projects, whether it be setting up a community choir, starting a community garden or running an art project for residents.

Alternatively, people running an existing community service or those simply wanting to get involved with an established initiative are also being encouraged to stop by to meet like-minded individuals.

If you want to promote an existing community project or find out more about sharing new ideas by taking part in the event, email paul@avantgardening.org.

The event is linked to Wandsworth Council’s proposed regeneration project for the area, which aims to see it transformed into an even better place for residents, businesses and visitors over the next several years.

The council's arts team and the public health department at NHS Wandsworth began working with Avant-Gardening last year as part of the project.
