Petition launched for service to Roehampton to be added
A meeting of the London Assembly’s Transport Panel was held at Roehampton University this week to discuss possible improvements to local bus services include an extension of the 22 route from Putney Lower Common and more 72 buses.
The panel including local representative Richard Tracey, accompanied by Peter Bradley of TfL, met with residents, business leaders, councillors and representatives from Wandsworth Council to talk about bus services in the Roehampton area. The message that improved bus services are needed for Roehampton Lane and the Alton Estate, and especially any bus service for the Roehampton Gate/Priory Lane area, which is not currently served, was delivered.
A petition has been started in support of an extension of the 22 bus route that would provide public transport access to Richmond Park for anyone on the route.
Peter Bradley of TfL told the meeting that it is very difficult to run long bus routes but campaigners hope TfL will take up the challenge all the same.
