The World’s Wife by Carol Anne Duffy
Behind every man there’s a great woman…
Forget history. These are her stories. From King Midas to the Krays, via Darwin and the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy’s The World's Wife throws new light on a host of seemingly familiar characters. With wit, wisdom and some knowing irony, this collection of poems gives voice to the women closest to these famous men. Exploring relationship issues and what it takes to be a wife and mother, these are women who learn from their mistakes and their experiences, and their stories reveal the real power behind the throne. Inspiring, moving and evoking a great deal of laughter, these wonderful women are brought to the stage in all their glory in this thrilling and very entertaining new dramatic interpretation.
