July Activities Programme at Putney Library
A talk on 'The Commoners', diabetes information and money saving tips

The programme of events for July at Putney Library has been announced.
On Thursday 7 July local Author Nick Manning will give a talk about his new book on notable neighbours of the Commons, those people who lived extraordinary lives around Wimbledon, Roehampton and Putney and helped shape the environment we enjoy today.
Entry is free for the hour long talk that takes place at 6.30pm, with refreshments available from 6pm, but you are asked to book your place in advance from the library. Call 020 8780 3085 or email Charlene.coleman@gll.org.
Because of the popularity of the library's crime reading group, a new one is to be launched. The first meeting will be on Thursday 14 July from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. and then the second Thursday of the month after that. Email: Frances.Craig@gll.org for more details or just turn up.
A diabetes prevention workshop is being held on Wednesday 20 July from 2pm to 3pm. Are you at risk of Type 2 Diabetes? If so, the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme can help.
Hailey Bye, Engagement Officer at Xyla Health & Wellbeing, will deliver a workshop session, with advice on taking charge, eating well and moving more, followed by a quiz.
The Film Club will be showing Our Little Sister on Monday 11 July at 5.30pm.
Sisters Sachi, Yoshino and Chika have lived together since their father abandoned them. When they receive word of his death they reluctantly travel to attend his funeral. There, they meet their 13-year-old half-sister Suzu and quickly invite her to move in with them. But their idyllic peace is shattered when the sisters' mother returns.
The library now has a new display of money-saving ideas from its customers - write your tip on a card and post in the customer comments box. You can add your initials if you like, or stay anonymous.

15 – 30 June Moich Abrahams and Susie Nathanson
Award-winning neo-expressionist insider-outsider artist Moich Abrahams has been selected for numerous exhibitions in London. He has shown many times with The London Group since 1975 and also has regularly shown with Espacio Gallery in London. He been featured in Art Scribe, the Aesthetica magazine, and other magazines.
Moich enjoys combining spontaneity and playfulness with exploring deeper aspects of the unconscious. He is fascinated with both unwrapping the mysterious and reinventing child-like expressiveness. Central to this process is the art of 'letting go'. He lives and works in London.

Thursday 7 July at 6.30pm Nick Manning will be talking about his book "The Commoners" The book details the lives of 31 ‘notable neighbours’ of the Wimbledon and Putney Commons. These are people (some well-known, some not) who lived in or around our area over the last 600 years and who are remarkable in some way.
