Programme features a live online production and a digital festival

Putney Arts Theatre is continuing its creative activities this autumn despite having to close its doors due to the second lockdown.

On 26 November at 8pm they will be holding an online production of The God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton

This tells of what happens when two sets of parents meet up to deal with the unruly behaviour of their children. Will it be a calm and rational debate between grown-ups about the need to teach kids how to behave properly? Or a hysterical night of name-calling, tantrums and tears before bedtime?

This savage comedy from the writer of the global phenomenon ‘Art’ was a hit in the West End and on Broadway, winning the Olivier and Tony Awards for Best New Play.

Tickets cost £5 if you are watching alone or £10 if you are in a group.

From Monday 7 - Friday 11 December, they will be holding the Shine On Festival featuring multiple events. It is Group 64’s first digital festival shining a light on what we can do rather than what we can't. Shine on festival is a diverse mixture of interactive workshops led by industry professionals, performances by Group 64 members as well as mindfulness morning sessions every morning. Tickets for all events are pay what you can, recommended donation £5

To celebrate the 12 days of Christmas they also have 12 prizes to win in the Shine Online Christmas Raffle, all generously donated by local and central London businesses. Ticket sales end at 6pm on Saturday 12 December and the draw takes place at 2pm on Sunday 13 December.

Theatre staff have been making sure that all the necessary measures are in place so that it conforms to Covid-19 guidelines when it reopens.

A spokesperson for the theatre said, “As you will be aware keeping up with the changing landscape is a challenge in itself! .

“Donations are still coming in and we want to thank everyone who has donated or decided to make a regular donation again. They have made a substantial contribution to our financial situation and we will be looking to reinvigorate our giving campaign over the next few months.

“As we slowly prepare to welcome people back when we're able to, we'd really appreciate you taking the time to respond to this very quick, anonymous survey at your convenience: Please click here.”
