As top world cyclists pedal through Putney
London is about to host The Olympics, an event the whole world is invited to this summer. If you don’t have tickets, it is time to think of different ways to cheer on our British athletes so that you don’t miss out on the celebration. If you are eager to escape the crowds but still want to show your support, Putney could prove to be a fantastic alternative for your Olympic celebrations.
Taking place on the 28th and 29th July, the world’s top cyclists, including our very own Mark Cavendish and Nicole Cooke, will be competing in the 2012 Olympic Cycling Road Race. Starting at The Mall, the cyclists will pass through Putney twice making it the perfect place to cheer on our gold medal hopefuls.
Not only will you be getting the chance to witness our incredible athletes compete, but the sponsors are doing their part to ensure an amazing day out. By generously sponsoring the Lacy Road Street Party The Exchange Shopping Centre Workman LLP, Savills, Allan Fuller and Gidden Place, are hosting a weekend event of food, music & entertainment all designed to keep your whole family & visitors entertained.
On Saturday morning a marquee will be erected on Lacy Road complete with a flat screen television, ensuring you don’t miss a moment of the race. Once you have watched the cyclists go past it will be time to indulge in a spot of shopping including a 'Best of British Fashion Show' held each day in The Exchange Shopping Centre.
An Official Olympic Merchandise retail ‘POP UP SHOP’ will be a feature of the Lacy Road weekend event.
With a weekend dedicated to all things British, be sure to come along and show your support for all the cyclists taking part in one of the most exhilarating and soon to be memorable Road Cycling events to go through Putney, which looks set to energise the streets of London during the Opening Weekend of the Olympics.
