Opportunity to grill council leader and ward councillors
The council is holding a meeting for the residents of West Putney ward to discuss their concerns about services in the area.
Whether it's services like recycling, street cleaning, parking, education and housing where the council has a direct responsibility – or other areas like policing, public transport and the NHS they say they want to make sure that they understand residents' priorities.
The meeting takes place at the ARK Putney Academy, Pullman Gardens, SW15 3DG on Tuesday, October 18 from 7.30pm.
The meeting will be chaired by the leader of the
council Ravi Govindia. The three ward
councillors Jane Cooper, Ian Lewer and Steffi
Sutters will also be present, along with leader of
the opposition, Simon Hogg and senior
managers from the main
council services.
If you are unable to attend the
meeting, you can still submit
your questions to the council

Your ward councillor report:
Success for school - Ark Putney Academy has
recently seen its new state-of-the-art campus
reopen following its £30m renovation which
has transformed this secondary school and its
Grade II Listed building.
Granard School & Children’s Centre - Local
demand for extra school places has been
delivered at this
primary school alongside a new children’s
centre, which offers a wide range of early years services for young families.
Arab Boy protected - This long serving pub on
the Upper Richmond Road faces a more
secure future after the council announced it
will be upgrading its planning rules to offer 120
local pubs greater protection from
redevelopment.
Cash for charities - Your three ward
councillors have actively supported bids for
town hall funding from local charities and
voluntary groups that benefit the area. Both
the Feel Good Bakery and YOUth Legal &
Resource Centre have been given funding to
support their local schemes.
Keeping West Putney green - Many new trees
have been planted in residential streets
throughout the ward. There are around 20,000
street trees in Wandsworth.
Roehampton Lane Traffic Improvement - TfL
agreed to suspend parking spaces during the
rush hour along stretches of Roehampton Lane
where parked cars were causing holdups, following a campaign led by your ward
councillors. This has improved traffic flows
and eased congestion on this busy main road.
Dover House Road Parade - Your ward
councillors were able to secure funding to
improve the shopping parade by removing
unnecessary street clutter, providing better
signage and refurbishing pavements. They are
also pressing TfL to enforce parking rules so
that these are used by shoppers not stay-allday
commuters.
Better housing - Residents on housing estates
in West Putney have benefited from
improvements to their homes. Since 2014 just
under £15m has been spent installing new
windows, heating systems, lifts and roofs.
