This Month’s Putney Knitting Concert Postponed

The next knitting concert due to be held on 22 November at All Saints’ Church in Putney has been postponed due to coronavirus restrictions.

It was to have been a Mozart Piano and Wind Quintet.

Organiser Robert Bridge has explored the idea of livestreaming the concert without an audience and postponing it to a date in early December but has decided to rather wait until ‘the landscape is more settled’ and there is a reasonable chance of being able to invite a live audience.

He is optimistic it will ultimately take place because all the players, despite busy careers elsewhere, are keen to make this concert happen. The most likely date for the rearrangement would be in January.

Robert says, “Another piece of encouraging news is that cellist Leo Melvin and two of his colleagues who were due to play the three Bach Gamba Sonatas back in May are keen to make that concert happen and are also in the queue for 2021. As are stellar viola player Yuko Inoue and no less stellar pianist Kathron Sturrock who plan to bring a programme of Romantic viola pieces. We wait on confirmation of dates but already there is much to look forward to in 2021.

Putney Knitting concerts have been held at All Saints’ Church on Putney Common since 2004. The audience is invited to bring something quiet to do whilst they listen.
