Free concert on 10th June donations for Starlight charity willingly accepted
Rieke Melvin (recorder)
William Melvin (violin)
Leo Melvin (cello)
Richard Brasier (harpsichord)
Rieke, William, Leo and Richard, will be performing a ‘musical chairs’ style of concert, with each person taking it in turns as soloist, playing works by G.F.Handel and J.S.Bach.
Both so revered for their magnificent large choral and orchestral works, Handel and Bach also of course at the other end of the spectrum, composed exciting small-scale chamber works - the solo parts being often instrumentally interchangeable.
The programme on 10th June will include Handel Sonatas in A major, HWV 361 and E major, HWV 373 on violin, the Handel Recorder Sonata in Bb major, the keyboard Fantasia in C, BWV 570 by Bach and movements from the Cello Suite no.1 in G also by Bach. The final movement of a Bach Trio Sonata in Bb major will complete the performance."
As ever the concert is free with complimentary wine and soft drinks and you are invited to bring something (not too noisy!) to do whilst you listen if you want to. Proceeds from the retiring collection will go to Starlight, a charity that the Melvins have regularly supported over the years and which provides entertainment and outings to lift the spirits of seriously ill children.
