Rachmaninoff’s Paganini Rhapsody & Third Concerto On Two Pianos

7pm on 20th February 2011 All Saints’ Church, Putney Common

Jonathan Higgins and Robert Bridge will play Rachmaninoff’s

Paganini Rhapsody and Third Concerto on two pianos

whilst you knit, read, draw, or simply gawp....

Retiring collection for Fairbridge

Both pianists have impending concert performances of these two great piano showpieces: Jonathan Higgins will be playing the Paganini Rhapsody at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where the Royal Ballet will be giving several performances of the ballet "Rhapsody" which uses this music as its score; meanwhile Robert Bridge will be performing the 3rd Concerto with the North London Symphony Orchestra at the end of March. This Knitting Concert offers an opportunity to hear both of these works in versions for two pianos, with each pianist taking turns to provide the orchestral accompaniment  for the other's solo part - a rare opportunity to hear two such passionate and spectacular works at close range.

As ever the concert is free with the retiring collection this month going to the work of Fairbridge,

Those of you who attended the first concert in January might like to know that, through the generosity of a sponsor who donated the hire cost for the church, we were able to donate £570 to Trinity Hospice. If you would be interested to support these concerts by becoming a sponsor please contact me on my email.

What is a knitting concert?
