In Aid of Kidney Research UK on 16th March
Organiser & Putney resident Susanna Statton was lucky enough to have a Kidney transplant two years ago. She told PutneySW15.com: "
I needed a transplant because of a genetic condition known as “Polycystic Kidney Disease”. I wanted to do something for Kidney Research UK when I heard about the amazing breakthroughs that were possible but lacked the funding to research them. I thought about running a marathon or jumping out of an aeroplane but then I thought “who am I kidding? I’m a coward and I like cake!” So instead I decided to speak to my community theatre about a comedy event to raise funds for KRUK. I can think of nothing better than people having a laugh and saving lives at the same time. so the Go Purple Laughing Comedy Night on the 16th of March 7.45 at Putney Arts Theatre was born".
The acts are all seasoned Edinburgh Fringe and all compliment each other very well. John Ryan with his acerbic East End perspective, Suzi Bennett, charmingly girlie, Angus Dunican, a kidney patient with a unique perspective on having the disease, Jess Fostekew, witty and intelligent and The Beta Males, hyperactively hilarious.
