Justine Greening MP Organises Heathrow Public Meeting

Guest speakers include Zac Goldsmith MP and the Leaders of Wandsworth and Richmond Councils

Justine is holding a joint public meeting with the Richmond Park MP, Zac Goldsmith, on Heathrow Airport’s consultation and its latest plans for expansion on Thursday 1st March .

The Leader of Wandsworth Council, Councillor Ravi Govindia, will also speak at the meeting. It will give the community the opportunity to hear what Heathrow is proposing and how it will affect us, as well as highlighting what we can most effectively do to get our local views heard.

In an open letter Justine wrote:

I am writing to invite you to a public meeting I am jointly holding with the Richmond Park MP, Zac Goldsmith, on Heathrow Airport’s consultation and its latest plans for expansion.

The Leaders of Wandsworth and Richmond Councils, Cllr Ravi Govindia and Cllr Paul Hodgins, will also speak at the meeting. It will give our community the opportunity to hear what Heathrow is proposing and how it will affect us, as well as highlighting what we can most effectively do to get our local views heard.

My concerns with this proposal are that there is still no information on possible future flight paths and the period of respite with no planes overhead is also likely to be reduced to just four or five hours a day. In addition, Heathrow Airport wants to bring forward the start of normal operating hours to 5.30am every day.

It is important that people respond to the consultation at
www.heathrowconsultation.com, by email to
expansion.feedback@heathrowconsultation.com or by writing to Freepost LHR Expansion Consultation. The closing date is Wednesday 28 March. Whilst this is the latest in many Heathrow airport expansion consultations we have had over the years, the reality is that the case for expanding Heathrow is now very weak so we should now make sure we keep up our local campaign.

I look forward to seeing you at the meeting on 1 March.

Best wishes,

Justine Greening MP

The meeting will take place on Thursday 1st March 2018, 7.00pm at the Community Church in Werter Road, SW15 2LL.
