Putney Recruiter Leads Putney To Caen Charity Cycle On Friday

This Friday GM Recruitment are being joined by over 40 clients, colleagues and friends, including halow’s Patron, Damon Hill, setting off in groups of 10 from around 11.30am from The Boathouse pub in Brewhouse Lane, Putney.

The Surrey-based charity that works to support young people aged 16-35 with a learning disability to become more independent and lead more meaningful, fulfilling lives is thrilled that a local businessman, George Willis of GM Recruitment, has organised a mammoth 250 mile cycle ride with all funds being donated to halow! 

Their route will take them out of London and through Surrey and Sussex to Newhaven in time to refuel before the late evening crossing to Dieppe. They will arrive in France early morning and will set off towards Caen at about 4am. They will follow the coast west taking in about 100miles of the French landscape (taking in plenty of French food and refreshment en route!). The final stop will be at Cafe Gondrée at Pegasus Bridge. Once refreshed, well fed and watered, they will catch another night boat to Portsmouth, arriving at “sparrows” ready for a gentle 70 miles or so back to halow project HQ in Guildford for a welcome party at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant on Sunday afternoon.

The main purpose of the trip aside from the adventure and fun is to raise money and awareness for their chosen charity of 2012, halow project, www.halowproject.org.uk. halow would like to thank all the cyclists as well as Youngs Brewery and Jamie’s in Guildford for their support.
