Fall OnLine At Putney Methodist Church

A free cross-faith event to help local older people to get online

According to the Office of National Statistics just over 7 million people have never used the internet and of those around 6.1 million are aged over 55 years. In London 655,000 people aged 16 years and over have never used the internet.

Members of Putney Methodist Church are joining forces again with the local Ahmadiyya Muslim Community to hold another free event to help local older people with using computers and the internet.

Their ‘Fall Online’ event is taking place on Saturday 9th November between 10.30am – 3pm at Putney Methodist Church, Gwendolen Avenue, Putney, SW15 6SN. Free to attend, people can go along to get a helping hand with searching the web, shopping online, sending emails and much more.



David Armstrong, the event organiser said:
“In April this year we held our first award-winning event of this kind as part of Digital Unite’s national Spring Online campaign and it proved so popular that we have decided to run this event again in the autumn. Not only does it help to get older people understanding the benefits of using computers and the internet and to not be afraid of modern technology but it also unites our Christian and Muslim communities.

“In April we saw young Muslim lads tutoring older ladies from the Church whilst my own 11 year old son helped one lady to buy tickets over the internet to Mecca. We are looking forward to sharing more positive experiences through the use of digital technology and welcome everyone along to our Fall Online event.”
