Putney Will Be 'All Shook Up' when the Cygnet Players go back to 1955
Cygnet Players are proud to present the smash hit musical comedy, All Shook Up, inspired by and featuring the songs of the King himself, Elvis Presley.
The show runs from Wednesday, 4 September to 7 September 2019 at Putney Arts Theatre, Ravenna Road, Putney, SW15 6AW. Performances are nightly at 7.45pm with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee.
The time is 1955, somewhere in middle America, where one girl's dream and a surprise visit from a mysterious leather-jacketed, guitar-playing stranger help a small town to discover the magic of romance and the power of music.
This lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with classic hits such as ‘Heartbreak Hotel,’ ‘Love Me Tender,’ ‘Don't Be Cruel,’ ‘Can't Help Falling in Love,’ and of course ‘All Shook Up’.
All Shook Up is written by Joe DiPetrio, with direction by Jamie Miller-Hughes, Musical Direction by Mike Searle and Choreography by Kim Schenkelaars.
“All Shook Up is packed with wonderfully bold and colourful characters; a really entertaining script, underscored throughout by such irresistibly infectious music; and crucially, it contains a gigantic heart to wrap it all together”, says Jamie. “It is intrinsically fun and the story is packed with laughter and joy, whilst still addressing some important issues. For all its humour, it is a story about the changing views within a specific time in history.”
“The cast have been so hard working and dedicated to their craft, and so generous with their time. I have been inspired, and feel truly lucky to have had the opportunity to work with each and every one of them.”
So come along and find out, will true love prevail? Will the power of music win the day? Will this small town in the Midwest survive getting all shook up? The King lives at Putney Arts Theatre in September – shake, rattle and roll your way to the show that can’t be missed!
Tickets are £18 (£16 concessions) and can be bought from the Cygnet Players box office on 07941 448689, via www.cygnetplayers.com/box-office or emailing cygnetsboxoffice@gmail.com.
