This is the 8th plaque organised by the Putney Society (www.putneysociety.org.uk). Also in attendance were Ben Miles who plays Thomas Cromwell in the forthcoming RSC dramatised production of Hilary Mantel's books, director Jeremy Herrin and other RSC actors.
Following the unveiling Hilary Mantel gave a fascinating talk on Thomas Cromwell and Putney to a packed audience of Putney Society and Wandsworth residents before signing books in St Mary's church, Putney. The reception in the Putney Pantry, sponsored by Chesterton Humberts, was filmed and broadcast by the BBC on News at 10pm that evening.
