ADT College run for local charity

700 pupils, parents and staff from ADT College on West Hill, Putney, braved the weather to take part in a 3.5mile fun run around Wimbledon Common

The Start and Finish lines were at the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability, also on West Hill, Putney. The College hopes to raise £5000 from the run which took place on 19th May for the hospital, which is a national medical charity and not part of the NHS.

Some of the participants dressed up for the event in costumes ranging from 70s Disco to a Dalmatian (see picture right) and a Giant Panda! Others aimed for fast times. In the Race A, for years 9 upwards, the first three runners were Jamie MacRae, Daniel Alloway-Carr and John Brice.

In Race B, for years 7-8, the first three runners were Dylan Peterson, Max-Vincent Wentzel and Jack Pryor. The fastest teacher was Mr Roberts and the fastest parent was Mr Chapman. Included in the parents was Kate Caseley who ran this year's London Marathon raising £3000 for the hospital.

Simon Glasson, Curriculum Manager of Humanities at ADT College, organised the event. He said: "I'm delighted that so many students chose to take part in the fun run. As well as being an enjoyable event it is an opportunity to support the work of the Royal Hospital. Well done to all those who took part and thanks to the parents and other supporters."

Waitrose in Putney (which recently was voted Putney's Shop of the Month April 2003) supported the event by providing refreshments for all those taking part in the fun run.

The Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability is a national medical charity based in Putney, southwest London. It specialises in assessing and rehabilitating adults with traumatic brain injuries and provides both treatment and long-term care for people with severe and complex neurological conditions, including Huntington's disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Cerebral Palsy.
