Local Memorial Art Fair Set To Raise Money For Mesothelioma
On Sunday 6th and 13th January 2013
On Sunday 6th and 13th January 2013, the Christine Wright Memorial, in aid of Methothelioma UK Charitable Trust, will be exhibiting and selling art works at The Thames Rowing Club on Putney Embankment.
The collection has been assembled by friends and family of the late Christine Wright, from Putney, who passed away from the asbestos-related lung cancer, mesothelioma, in 2011. All proceeds from the event will be used to support people with mesothelioma and their families, as well as to raise awareness about the early symptoms of the disease.
The public will have the opportunity to view or purchase a piece of art from a range of styles and budgets, from an exclusive signed print from acclaimed Richmond wildlife photographer, Alex Saberi, or a hand carved bench from sculptor, Matt Cave, to a pretty piece of pottery or a small painting from a local artist.

"In honour of Christine's memory and her love of the arts, we are very excited to be holding these events. We are aiming to appeal to people who want to pick up something nice for a few pounds and enjoy a cup of tea and a cake with us, to those interested in spending a few hundred pounds on something that is quite special. With whatever money we can raise, we hope to make the lives of people with mesothelioma and their families a little bit easier."
Liz Darlison, Macmillan Nurse Consultant, Mesothelioma UK added:
"Every penny raised from this worthwhile event will be channelled into making the lives of people with this terrible terminal disease more bearable. It is very important that we identify and treat mesothelioma as early as possible to give people with this type of cancer and their carers the best chance of a decent quality of life during the time they have."
