Putney rower bags medal

Elise Laverick gets bronze in Women's double sculls

Putney based rower Elise Laverick has helped to make history by gaining a bronze medal in the Athens Olympics with her partner Sarah Winkless.

Elise, who trains at the Thames rowing club, was part of a team effort that took British rowers to their best ever medals haul.

It was the second Olympics for Elise, having competed in the eight boat at the 2000 Olympic games and she is following in a family tradition as her mother rowed in the world championships in the 1960s.

She is multi-talented as she plays the double bass after studying music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
