Pedestrian Dies In Accident On Putney High Street

The elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene

Police were called at approximately 4.40pm on Friday, 28th September, to reports of a collision in Putney High Street between a lorry and a male pedestrian.The High Street was closed in both directions for most of Friday evening.

The unamed male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.

A local resident whose friend witnessed the accident told PutneySW15.com:
"An elderly man walked out between two stationary buses at bus stop by Smiths, he was knocked down and killed by an overtaking Tesco lorry."

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton are investigating.
