Roadworks To Continue On Putney High Street

As engineers discover more substantial damage

Council engineers have completed temporary repairs to the road surface in Putney High Street but are warning that more substantial work is needed over the coming days to properly fix the carriageway.

Engineers began work on May 10th to repair part of the carriageway that partially collapsed yesterday near the junction with Lacy Road.

However during their inspection of the carriageway this morning - and in particular the hole that has suddenly appeared underneath the road surface - it is clear that a much bigger repair job is required, which will need the use of large scale excavating machinery.

Arrangements are now being made to get this machinery in place and complete a full repair as quickly as possible.

Motorists, bus passengers and cyclists who need to travel along Putney High Street are being advised to check the council's website over the coming days for advance warning on when the works are likely to be carried out.
