Falcons School to Takeover Putney Park Site

Girls' school planned move from Ealing sparks angry reaction

The site of the former Putney Park school on Woodborough Road has been acquired by the Alpha Plus group. They are planning to move Falcon School for Girls from Ealing to Putney with the new school opening in September 2014.

The move has prompted outrage from many existing parents as the new site is over 5 miles away from the current location on Gunnersbury Avenue and, although the school is promising a free transfer service, many are hoping to switch schools. However, parent report that hurried enquiries have shown that there are no places currently available in all the nearby prep schools.

The school will accommodate three forms of 18 girls with a capacity for approximately 350 pupils though Alpha Plus say they hope to grow the number in future.

In a letter to existent parents they state, "The many advantages of the new location are the substantial outside space, together comprising over and acre of landscaped garders. Each of the buildings has it own outside playground and external sports facilities will be available at the Bank of England Playing Fields, Roehampton."

Putney Park school closed earlier this year with the owners claiming that it was impossible for them to maintain the school due to the economic downturn.
