issues that affect your quality of life. We are tasked with patrolling your ward and getting to know the people who live and work here.

West Putney Latest
The West Putney Team have been busy working towards addressing the priorities set by the Ward Panel at the last meeting. These are just some of our most recent successes:

Whilst conducting patrols of the Ashburton Estate several males were stopped and spoken to by officers. Two of the males matched the descriptions of suspects who were involved in a robbery nearby only minutes earlier. One of the youths was arrested at the scene, but the other made off. He was seen again by officers several days later and arrested. One of the youths was charged for the robbery and remanded in custody.

Whilst conducting patrols during the fireworks period officers stopped and searched a male. He was found to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis and arrested. A subsequent search of his property led to the discovery of a substantial quantity of Class A Drugs. Two further arrests were made at the scene for possession of Class A Drugs with intent to supply.

In order to tackle further instances of anti-social behaviour within the ward officers have drawn up further Acceptable Behaviour Contracts between youths, their parents and Wandsworth Council. These have been found to be an effective way of tackling low levels of anti-social behaviour.

Below is a list of crime prevention pointers that may help you from becoming a victim.

SECURING YOUR HOME

• Never leave a spare key in a convenient hiding place such as under the doormat, in a flowerpot or behind a loose brick - thieves know to look there first.
• Remove the keys and keep them out of sight and in a safe place.
• Make sure all doors and windows are locked before going out.
• Consider a letterbox cage or any other restrictor to prevent thieves’ from reaching to the door look and looking onto your property.
• If possible try not to leave valuable items or Xmas presents in display of windows.
• Try to remember to leave a light on in the hallway or a porch light before you go out.
• If you are going away for the Xmas period then try to get your post collected by a friend or neighbour and cancel your milk delivery.

Metropolitan Police Non -emergency Number

The Metropolitan Police have launched a new contact number that is for non-emergencies. Meaning calls that do not require an immediate Police response. This could be to report a crime, or maybe to seek advice on Police matters. The number to call is 0300 123 1212

For all other emergencies dial 999 . An emergency is when a crime is being committed at that time.
