Thamesfield Ward
Thamesfield residents have requested that officers put more effort in disrupting and deterring a small hardcore of
beggers who have recently been frequenting the Putney High St. The Thamesfield DWO has been engaging with
Outreach Teams and the UK Borders Agency in order to direct individuals away from persistent begging and also
to enforce EU Treaty Rights around member states nationals working and contributing to society. This is an
ongoing multi-agency operation which will continue into the spring 2015.
Officers from Putney put their cover shift week to good use by conducting a range of public engagement activities
on Putney High St. Officers attended all High stores and spoke to staff and members of the public regarding where
they felt police activities should be directed. Responses were overwhelmingly around more high visibility patrols
and more engagements of this type in future. Officers also conducted two Crime prevention meetings in the
Putney Exchange which were well attended by members of the public and resulted in a large amount of crime
prevention advice being provided particularly around the Thamesfield Ward priority of Theft from motor vehicle.
The events were so successful that this will be repeated in Mid-March.
Roehampton & West Putney Wards
During the month of February PC Donnelly has been out of action with a broken finger so has been covering a lot
of the administrative work in the office for the ward and her neighboring ward of Roehampton. As a result PC Andy
Voong and PCSO Dave Peel have been assisting across both wards whilst also helping with the development of
new recruit PC Sarah Kayes who has been very productive with 5 arrests in the month. Dave has been busy
attending a number of public engagement events across both wards where he has met with over a thousand
people. These included youth engagement with Dover House Lions, student engagement at Roehampton
University, older persons engagement at the sheltered accommodation clubrooms including the over 60’s club at
Minstead Gardens and various RA meetings.

Officers of Putney SNT executed two warrants for handling stolen goods at addresses in Doverhouse Road and Highcliffe Drive and a quantity of stolen goods were recovered. Two males were arrested; they have since been bailed pending further enquiries. Andy Voong and PC Sarah Kayes recently had two direct arrests. Following complaints of Anti Social Behaviour on The Lennox Estate whilst conducting directed patrols they stopped a female youth in possession of cannabis and a male youth in possession of a lock knife. The female has been bailed to the youth offending team and the male has been charged for possession of an offensive weapon and bailed to court.
Very GOOD news is that the 17 year old burglar we referred to in last month was arrested shortly after we
circulated the newsletter for an offence on West Putney ward and subsequently recalled to prison where he spent
his 18th Birthday.
West Hill and East Putney Wards
The policing priorities are:
* Anti Social behaviour by groups of youth, Motor Vehicle Crime and Burglary.
Our Promises are:
* Block sweeps to detect/deter ASB
* Operations around transport hubs
On 09/02/2015 a School visit was conducted at Putney High School, Putney Hill SW15, our meeting was very well
attended with over 50 parents and children.
The presentation was on the Role of police officers and PCSOs, equipment and uniform, stranger danger and
how/what to do if you get lost. The school has been learning about Goldilocks and the Three Bears and about
Hansel and Gretel. Both of these stories link well to the theme of being lost and stranger danger. The school
followed this up by looking more closely at keeping safe and a focus on reflective materials due to the dark
evenings. The children asked a range of questions and understood the importance of informing a parent or
teacher about their whereabouts.
On 28/01/2015, Officers visited a community playgroup for local families with preschool children at “THE OPEN
DOOR” Community Centre in Keevil Drive, SW19 6TF.The playgroup is well attended by parents from different
ethnicities, with a lot of mothers from the local polish community. We spoke to the parents about their concerns
regarding the area they live in and engaged with the children who loved trying on police clothing. They would like
to invite us again in April to learn more about the Police and our role. Both the parents and children expressed an
interest in exploring a police car/van and meeting the dog unit to see how the ‘four pawed officers’ do their job.
Southfield Ward
Southfields SNT officers had a bike marking event on Saturday 7th February in the Rain Sleet and Snow
marking 55 bikes outside Southfields Tube Station. They Also visited Sheringdale Primary School and spoke to
there Reception Classes about Stranger Danger.
Ward Priorities are:
* To resolve Motor Vehicle Crime in particular theft from motor vehicles, Police conducted patrols in Brookwood
Road, Pulborough Road and Replingham Road
* Burglary Patrols (Patrols have been carried out in Burglary Hotspots - Lavenham Road and Engadine Street
and Pulborough Road
Our promises are:
* An officer will conduct a Bike Marking Event in the Ward each month
* We will conduct one 'Day of Doors' operation per month. In essence we will focus on high visibility policing
efforts in vehicle crime hot-spots.
Fairfield Ward
Ward Priorities are
* Burglary, Theft from Motor Vehicle and Theft of Pedal Cycle
Our promises are:
* Once a month we will dedicate a full day to carrying out a proactive operation targeting burglary
offences
* Once a month we will dedicate a full day to carrying out a proactive operation targeting vehicle crime
offences
* Once a month we will visit every address on 4 streets to talk to residents about crime and anti-social
behavior in your area
Fairfield SNT officers have conducted proactive operations to target the current priority offences of Burglary
and Theft from Motor Vehicles on the ward.
Two operations, carried out in the crime hot spots, resulted in numerous stop & searches, 1 Penalty notice for
disorder and 1 formal cannabis warning issued.
Earlier this month Fairfield SNT officers conducted a drugs warrant at an address on the Wendelsworth Estate
after reports from the community of drug dealing, drug use and associated anti-social behaviors in the area.
During the search warrant a large quantity of drugs were found and seized along with suspected stolen
property. One 19 year old male was arrested on suspicion of drug possession with intent to supply and
handling stolen goods. Enquiries are still ongoing.
