60 year old plagued neighbours with loud music & parties
Raymond Shettle of Innes Gardens on Putney’s Ashburton estate, was prosecuted by the housing department for repeatedly causing noise nuisance to people living nearby.
South Western magistrates court heard that Mr Shettle had been served with a noise abatement notice in March last year following numerous complaints from other residents about loud music and late night parties.
At the time he was warned by housing officials that if he breached the notice he would be liable to legal action. However these warnings fell on deaf ears and magistrates were told that between March and September 2010, Mr Shettle threw five more noisy parties.
In court, he admitted an offence under the 1990 Environmental Protection Act. He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 costs.
Wandsworth’s cabinet member for housing Cllr Paul Ellis said:
“I hope Mr Shettle has learned his lesson and stops being a nuisance to his neighbours. It is certainly in his interests to stop as we will not hesitate in bringing him back to court if these problems continue.
“No-one should have to put up with constant late night noise from loud music and parties. Anyone who causes these kinds of disturbances on our housing estates can rest assured they will face legal action from the council.”
