Created 'Young Games Maker' For London Olympics & 'Asda Athlete' for Roehampton

George Bailey, a Local 16 year old, has been selected by British Fencing and the LOGC to be a " Young Games Maker" for the fencing at this year’s Olympic Games, this is a result of his GBR National U17 and U 20 rankings. He will be working alongside the Olympic fencers at the Olympic venue in the Excel Centre in the Docklands. He is one of two 1995 fencers to be selected (from the top of the GBR rankings) for each weapon.

George was formally at Tower House School in East Sheen and will be joined at the Olympic Fencing venue in the Excell centre in the Docklands, by the Tower House fencing coach and year 4 teacher Mr Peter Black.

George is now a year 11 pupil at Millfield School, in Somerset having won a fencing scholarship when he was 13.

This week he will be representing GBR in the Cadet (U17) European Championships being held in Porec Croatia, at Easter he is representing GBR in the Cadet World Championships in Moscow, George will represent England in the UK School Games in May, at the Olympic venue, as first reserve, having been selected from the top of the Junior (U20) rankings, an amazing accolade for a just 16 year old.

He has just been selected as an Asda Athlete for Roehampton, as part of the UK sports Aid grant scheme, and will be attending his first Asda Athlete workshop on his return for the European Champioships.
