- on a council backed event to find out more about opportunities in Putney
Around 80 business leaders attended a council backed event last week to find out more about investment opportunities in Putney town centre.
Organised by the Putney Town Centre Partnership, the event was designed to bring together local estate agents and landowners with representatives from the retail, leisure, commercial and property industries.
The guests were welcomed aboard a private boat traveling between Putney and Westminster Piers to hear a series of presentations about the town.
Wandsworth’s regeneration spokesman, Cllr James Cousins, spelt out the advantages of relocating to the town centre - including the opportunity to work alongside a business friendly council.
Local business representative Jodi Chapman explained the role of the Putney Partnership and how their initiatives have helped maintain the town centre’s vibrancy and appeal.
The evening also included the first screening of a specially produced inward investment film highlighting Putney's strength as a place to do business.
Cllr Cousins said: "This event was about creating opportunities. There's a real buzz and excitement around Putney and the sheer turnout was another clear vote of confidence in the town's prospects. To have so many businesses signalling their interest is extremely exciting.
"The council will continue to work closely with the business community to promote Putney's investment potential, and to create more opportunities for investors to take a closer look at what the town has to offer."
Stephen Wallace, PutneyTown Centre Manager told PutneySW15.com that:
"
Feedback provided by those attending the event, both on the day and subsequently, confirmed that the whole event had been very well received and a great many useful contacts made. Information packs and the new ‘Invest in Putney’ film proved popular (see this at www.wandsworth.gov.uk/putney). Some significant discussions took place concerning key locations in Putney and it is expected that direct and indirect benefits of this event will show themselves over time."
