Company committed to have done this by March saving 63 million bags a year
Single Use Plastic bags will soon become a thing of the past in Putney's Waitrose (and all other shops), as Waitrose & Partners, announce how the company plans to protect the environment by reducing the amount of unnecessary plastic use.
The company has started to remove all 5p single use plastic bags and have announced today (24th January) to account holders that they are committed to completing this process by March this year, which is predicted to save 63 million bags per year.
In spring they plan to replace all loose fruit and vegetable bags with a home compostable alternative, which will result in a further reduction of 71 million bags annually.
