Owner says eating industry has changed and sees Deliveroo as a factor
Valentina's the Italian deli and restaurant on the Upper Richmond Road in Putney has gone into administration.
The restaurant group has eight restaurants in London and Surrey and started as a deli and small cafe/restaurant in East Sheen opened by Bruno Zoccola in 1991.
The move to call in the administrators insolvency firm Begbies Traynor came after the firm took the decision in September to close its Reigate branch and its Chiswick branch a few weeks later. The company stated that the “eating industry has changed” and citing disruptive technology from the likes of Deliveroo as a factor.
Valentina East Sheen was essentially a delicatessen when it started.
When Bruno Zoccola's nephew Fabio Arcari came on board nine years ago, the pair looked at opening a restaurant too. The Putney restaurant followed, and the business expanded to eight sites in London and the South East.
Registered in Ilford, Essex, the trading sites affected by the administration include: 281 Lavender Hill; 210 Upper Richmond Road West, East Sheen; 75 Upper Richmond Road, Putney; 10-12 High Street, Weybridge, Surrey; 404-406 Chiswick High Road, London; 145 Notting Hill Gate, London; 12 Church Street, Reigate; and Units C, D & E at the Cardamom Building in Shad Thames, London.
